Space Shuttle Atlantis Launch

Space Shuttle Atlantis, 2006

Since there’s a shuttle launch scheduled for this evening and I won’t be there, I thought I’d post an image I made at a launch a couple of years ago. Tonight, Shuttle Endeavour is scheduled to lift-off at 7:55pm EST. A night launch is truly amazing sight and with the Shuttle Program winding down, there aren’t that many more opportunities to witness them. Unfortunately, I won’t be there tonight. I just watched the launch a little while ago and I wondered to myself if you’d be there. It was an awesome night launch.

Too bad you weren’t there, but this picture will do nicely. I’ve always had a fascination with the space shuttle launches. They bring tears to my eyes, even before the Challenger and Columbia.

If you ever come to Huntsville, you can see one of these sitting right out in front of the Space and Rocket Center. Another wonderful image.
