September 25, 2006 – A Boeing Delta II rocket with the second modernized NAVSTAR GPS-IIR satellite aboard blasts off from launch pad 17A at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This satellite will improve accuracy, increase resistance to interference and enhance performance of the GPS system and joins the first operational modernized GPS-IIR satellite that was launched last year.
More importantly, it kind of freaked out this surfer.
