Ok, so there’s a park out near the airport in Trinidad, Bolivia.
We had spent the day bouncing around different parts of town when our driver, Wilson suggested we go check out this park. “Giant Anacondas” he said, “Let’s go right away”, we said. So we arrive at the park and walk all the way to the back where there’s a gate. It cost us, if I remember correctly 12 Bolivianos (about $1.50 US) to get through the gate.
Once inside, there’s a large tank/cage combo sitting in the middle of the space, nothing else.
What am I looking at? No idea. Daniela, what am I looking at? No idea.
Why is this duck the only thing moving in there? No idea. Daniela, what’s with the duck? No idea.
So we’re walking along the outside of the tank/cage, looking in the water. It was hot out. The 3, yes 3 giant anacondas are all asleep in various areas of the tank/cage.
I say to Daniela, I still don’t get the duck. Why does he keep looking down? She goes off to ask the gatekeeper. I take this picture.
Daniela walks back over to me.
“Lunch” she says. “Lunch?” I replied.
I thought to myself, “we already ate”.
Then it hit me.
That’s a dead duck walking…

LOL! When I finished laughing, I was going to say “poor duck,” but it occurs to me that ducks don’t fare well here in the Bogs, either. Not the domestic ducks, at any rate. Although they’re more likely to be dinner than lunch, for people rather than anacondas.
The music is cracking me up. Well done on all accounts.
