So while hanging in La Paz after getting back from the Salar, I got to experience true, local, Latin culture, courtesy of VH1 en Espanol, which was head and shoulders above Fox Sports “Best Damn Sports Show Period” en Espanol.
And don’t even get me going about Martha Stewart en Espanol, Larry King (in English, not that it matters or makes a difference.)
So basically the whole Viacom/Time Warner/Disney/Murdoch monolith exposed me to local, latin culture the good old fashioned American way, yep, bad TV only better because I didn’t understand most of it but you know what?
If you’re watching What’s Happening? on TV Land en Espanol when Rerun enters, Hey, Hey, Hey! sounds the same in English and Spanish but, and this might make me subscribe to the Espanol tier here at home, Green Acres, dubbed? Can’t be beat.
Enjoy the song (I did but was ridiculed for liking it) but a word of caution, you might want to look away at certain points, El Tri won’t ever be confused for Brad Pitt (50 years after his death).

I did enjoy it. The song and music had a sensually bluesy feel to it, but I didn’t understand the lyrics so I had to go by sound and, of course, the video. I could be way off track. You’re right about looking away at certain points.
I’m almost convinced I need to learn Spanish. The only sport I truly enjoy is soccer/football. Not having cable television, that means watching the World Cup on Univision. Maybe I’ll spring for cable in 2010.
(Not that soccer is the only reason I should learn Spanish. Just an example.)
